Community servers

DarkWire for the web, on servers run by people from the DarkWire community. Open one of the addresses below and you get DarkWire in your browser.

Why this page exists. There's no DarkWire app for iPhone (yet). An iPhone only installs apps from Apple's App Store; any other way is far too hard for almost everyone. DarkWire for the web works in a browser instead, and on an iPhone you can add it to your home screen (Share → Add to Home Screen) so it can receive pushes.

DarkWire itself doesn't run DarkWire for the web anywhere: we want you to use the apps, and the web version is meant to run on a server of your own. Some people who do run one are happy to let others use it. This page lists those servers, for everyone without a server of their own.
Use at your own risk. These servers are run by other people, not by DarkWire, and we have no control over them. Whoever runs a server decides what your browser gets from it, so a server could hand out a changed DarkWire that reads your messages.

What we check. Every listed server was approved by hand, and we check it again about once an hour: every file it serves must be exactly the same as in one of our two newest releases of DarkWire for the web, its push relay must answer, and whoever runs it must have proven they control it. A server that fails a check disappears from this list.

What no check can rule out. A server can show us the genuine files and give you different ones, and it can change between two checks. We can never be 100% sure. Only the apps on our download page are supported by us. Want to be completely sure? Run DarkWire for the web on a server of your own, or build it yourself from the source code.
Your data belongs to that one address. DarkWire for the web keeps your profile, contacts and messages in your browser, for that one address. If the server disappears, or you switch to another server on this list, you start with an empty DarkWire. Make a backup (Settings → Backup & transfer) and keep it safe: with it you can restore your profile on any server. Clearing the site's data in your browser also deletes your profile. On a computer, Chrome, Edge, Opera and Vivaldi can keep DarkWire on a USB drive instead; Safari, also on an iPhone, can't. More about DarkWire in a browser, and how it differs from the apps, is on the Info page. Honest note: DarkWire for the web hasn't been tested on an iPhone or in Safari yet.

Offer your server

Do you run DarkWire for the web and want to let others use it? Thank you! Your server can be listed when:

What happens next: we check your server, look at it ourselves, and approve it. You won't hear from us: your server simply appears on this list once it's approved and passes the checks. When you update to a new release, there's nothing to do. A server that fails its checks disappears from the list; one that hasn't passed for 30 days is removed. Want it off the list? Remove the code, or let us know.
